குருவை சந்திப்பது போல் வேறொன்றுமில்லை

பல வருடங்களுக்கு பிறகு நேற்று (11-Dec-2023) என் இசைக்குரு “இசைப்பேராசிரியர்” அப்துல் சத்தார் அவர்களை சந்தித்தேன்.

சத்தார் சார் 40 வருடங்களுக்கும் மேலாக சென்னையில் மேற்கத்திய இசை பயிற்றுவிக்கிறார்.

சத்தார் சாரிடம் Western Classical music பயின்று திரையுலகில் இசையமைப்பாளர்களாக உருவானவர்கள் – Ganesh Kumar அண்ணா, Viju Shah, Harris Jayaraj, D. Imman, Faisal , Thaman, Dhivakar Thiagarajan, இயக்குநர், நடிகர் SJ Suryah என‌ நீண்ட பட்டியல் இருக்கிறது.

சத்தார் சார் மற்றும் அவருடைய தம்பி Ghouse சார் இருவரும் கண்டிப்பானவர்களாக தோன்றினாலும் பழகப்பழக இனிமையானவர்கள்.

வருடா வருடம் ரம்ஜான் அன்று தவறாமல் சத்தார் சாரை அழைத்து ஆசிகள் வாங்குவது வழக்கமாக இருந்தது. நாளடைவில் அது மறந்து போனது.

கடைசியாக பார்த்த போது இருந்த அதே தோற்றத்திலேயே இருந்தார். நேற்று அவரிடம் என் சிறுகதைத் தொகுப்பை அவரிடம் கொடுத்து ஆசி வாங்கினேன்.

அவருடைய மாணவர்கள், Trinity Syllabus changes, அவருடைய உடல்நிலை என பல்வேறு விஷயங்களை பற்றி விசாரித்து விட்டு கிளம்பினேன்.

மகிழ்ச்சியான நாளாக நேற்றைய தினம் மாறியிருந்தது.

Nothing like meeting your Guru

Yesterday (11-Dec-2023) met my music guru “Music Professor” Abdul Sattar after long time.

Sattar sir has been teaching western classical music in Chennai for over 40 years.

There is a long list of people who studied Western Classical music with Sattar Sir and became music composers in the film industry – Ganesh Kumar Anna, Viju Shah, Harris Jayaraj, D. Imman, Faisal, Thaman, Dhivakar Thiagarajan, director, actor SJ Suryah.

Both Sattar sir and his younger brother Ghouse sir seem strict but are pleasant to deal with.

Every year on the day of Ramzan, used to call Sattar Sir and seek his blessings. As years passed, it was forgotten.

He looked the same as he had last been. Yesterday I gave him my collection of short stories and got his blessings. I inquired about his health and he also updated about his students, syllabus changes in Trinity exams and more.

Yesterday turned out to be a memorable day.
